McCain’s gift
Tags: arugula, elitist, John Edwards, McCain, ObamaJohn McCain’s inability to remember how many houses he owns is a gaffe that will prove more damaging than John Edwards getting a $400 haircut. Count on it. Especially because McCain, after consulting with his staff, said the number is at “at least four” when in fact it may be ten or more.
The Jed Report has produced a Google Earth tour of the properties. The Talking Points Memo details the ill-timed most recent purchase by Cindy McCain.
I don’t fault McCain for his wealth or lavish lifestyle, including hobnobbing with movie celebrities and flying around in his private jet. But not knowing how many houses he owns puts him way out of touch with the people he’s seeking to lead.
The McCain campaign’s response: the POW excuse, again, and another slam on Barack Obama for liking arugula. I like it too, so I must also be an elitist. I definitely know how many houses I have: one with a fat mortgage payment and home equity loan.
Now all we need is a photograph of McCain eating arugula, and he’ll be toast.

McCain accumulated some homes through decades of achievement. A much younger Barack Obama got his million $$$ home with the help of his gangster friend Tony Rezko.
I’m glad Democrats are making a big deal about this so maybe some investigations will start back up on Obama’s connection to the mob.

Forgive me for eating dinner and for failing to post your comment in less than an hour.
Liberal censored site? I don’t consider myself a liberal, but you obviously need to categorize and denigrate people who don’t agree with you.
And if you believe that Rezko helped Obama pay for his house, you’re just plain misinformed. (And I’d be careful about bringing up the Mob — there are many rumors about your candidate’s connection to organized crime.) The facts are out there about the house, and they’ve been thoroughly publicized. All you’re doing is repeating the McCain campaign’s response, which of course is not only untrue but designed to divert attention from his blunder.
Interesting that you act as if I didn’t acknowledge that McCain is free to own as many homes as he likes — I could care less. My point is that he’s out of touch with most Americans if he can’t remember how many houses he owns. Instead, you choose to attack Obama, as if McCain’s attack dogs wouldn’t have savaged him if the roles were reversed.
McCain has set the tone for this campaign, and judging from a new Wall Street Journal poll, voters are put off by his negativity. Now that he’s getting what he’s been dishing out, we get more lies. Any honor that McCain had is getting tarnished beyond recognition.
